In The Dark

We are not sure what is up with lil' Kc. He is such a joy, pleasurable and happy during daytime, but comes bedtime, he turns into a terror! Crying, screaming and hissy-fits for about half an hour, sometimes even longer. Nothing seems to work and both Opa and I are concerned something else may be going on, besides the war of the wills.

Yeah, it seems like more then just attention drawing and not wanting to go to sleep. Maybe he is afraid of the dark, although the bedroom is not too dark at all. He does not want to sleep in his own bed. Maybe a safety and security issue? Maybe he is afraid of nightmares, or has night-terrors? We don't know.

Bedtime is turning into a traumatic experience. Hopefully, we will be able to find out soon. For his sake, poor critter. Right now, we are totally in the dark!

When in the dark is, when we should seek and look for The Light the most! God wants us to come to Him and ask, seek and knock. He has the solution and it will be revealed in His time. This is one of those situations, where we don't know what to do. In which case... we do nothing, but pray, ask for open doors and wisdom. :-)

James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

Oh, it's so tough not knowing what they are really thinking.

Everyone is different and I am sure you will get all kinds of advice, so take it or leave it. :)

I was so fortunate to not have any serious sleeping problems with my kids - but I got a few bouts of this. I learned that I could often make bedtime a little earlier and it was more peaceful. Maybe they were sleepier than I thought, or it was a little brighter outside, or both?

I'll pray for lil' KC that he is not fearful - and the grownups that they do not fret. :)

Missy,
Thanks so much for the tips and the prayers. We may try putting him to bed a bit earlier.

He still takes two naps, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. It may well be, that he is ready for just one a day, in which case putting him down for the night might be in order.

Blessings to y'all!

God's Grace.

John used to do that. Isaac, too, and now Daniel. Patting them on the back never seemed to help- they want(ed) to be held, though sometimes Isaac would settle for holding a hand. Paul decided we were going to let Jay cry it out (checking in on him- the Ferber method more or less). It took many, many nights of an hour or more of crying, but he eventually got used to going to bed. I think it's just that they've always got someone [grown-up] with them during the day, and they don't like not having someone there. Daniel's doing well, maybe just because his brothers are there. Still, he'd definitely rather have one of us holding him.

Lenise,
Thanks for sharing. It may well be Kc is used to having people around. Leo is sleeping in the same bedroom, but somehow that does not comfort Kc.

We will see how it goes. Hopefully it will be over soon. It is only traumatic for him.

Give those rascals a hug from me! :-)

Have a very blessed day.

Janice,
I hear ya. I too like to fall asleep with the tv on. The problem with that is, it wakes me up later, haha.

Have a very blessed day, sis.

Oh, poor thing. I really hope it's not midd-terrors, my friend's son used to get those. He would be so scared to go to bed! I will pray that the Lord gives Him complete peace at night.

It's so nice visiting your blog again. :)
