H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) And Arthritis

Every now and then I look at my site meter to see what search people did to land on my site. That is how I noticed that many were looking for information on how the Swine Flu, or the H1N1 Flu as it is officially named now, would affect people with RA or any other form of Arthritis.

To be honest; I am not quite sure, but I can and will share any knowledge and logical considerations on this topic with you.

Right of the bat, when you have RA or Arthritis you can already safely assume that your immune system is not up to par and you are likely to be more susceptible to a cold and the flu. Medications may decrease your immune system even more.

I know for sure that Methotrexate, Humira, Enbrel and Remicade lower your immune system substantially. There is no doubt in my mind that more Arthritis medications have the same effect. Therefore I strongly recommend that you always read the information which comes with your prescription.

In case you are not sure, or when reading all those medical terms are confusing to you and don't make it clear, you can always ask the Pharmacist or your doctor. When you are more susceptible, try to stay at a safe distance from people who have a cold or flu and constantly wash your hands with soap or use anti bacterial hand lotions and/or wipes.

There is no shame in asking for what you need. On the contrary, advice, experiences of others and shared knowledge can only be helpful and guide you to do what you know is best.

The same goes for matters concerning life. The Bible is full of guidance and advice and even if that would still leave you in doubt, there is no shame in praying and asking for what you need. God will always give what is needed, when it is needed. :-)

Isaiah 28:29
This also comes from the LORD of hosts, Who is wonderful in counsel and excellent in guidance.
