Simponi

As promised, I looked in to another Rheumatoid Arthritis medication. This one is called Simponi (golimumab) and is what they call a TNF: a tumor necrosis factor blocker. TNF reduces the effects of anything which can cause an inflammation.

It is self-injected under the skin once a month and is, often in combination with Methotrexate, given to treat RA, but it is also used for psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and some other conditions.

You shouldn't use Simponi if you are allergic to it, or if you are already using another RA treatment like Humira, Cimzia, Enbrel, Remicade, etc. and be sure to tell your doctor if you had, or someone close to you has tuberculosis, or if you recently have been to an area where tuberculosis is still a common occurrence.

You also need to inform him of any and all of your medical conditions, especially if you suffer from hepatitis, congestive heart failure, lupus, diabetes, cancer, HIV, have a weak immune system, or multiple sclerosis, because the dose may need adjustment or special tests may have to be done being able to use Simponi safely.

It can happen that Simponi causes fever, sweating, chills, tired feeling, chest pain, feeling short of breath, cough, sore throat, coughing up bloody mucus, flu symptoms, stomach pain, diarrhea, muscle aches, or weight loss. Some of these infections can be fatal, so make sure to contact your physician right away of any of the above symptoms occur.

Simponi may increase the risk of getting cancer of the lymph nodes, or autoimmune disorders. This is more likely to occur in children and young adults.

I know it is always risky taking medications, because most of them can have really serious side effects. On the other hand, they can also cure you or take away a lot of pain and allow you to function and take part in life again.

Choosing to live in accordance with God's will does not present any risk at all. On the contrary; it is healing and guarantees everlasting life!

Deuteronomy 30:19
I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;
