Handy Devices II

There are many more handy gadgets which make living with a condition or handicap a lot more comfortable and uncomplicated. Often getting in and out of the bath tub or shower is a real chore. Installing tub bars and handrails for more stability and balance are a great solution.

In case you do not have enough strength in your hands then faucet levers or tap turners are making it much easier to turn the water on and off. You may also want to consider a raised toilet seat. this is less hard on your joints and makes it easier to sit down and get up.

Work may present a problem. When you have to sit for a long time then an ergonomic chair is not a luxury. Hands-free telephone headsets or a phone with large push buttons could be a solution.

Even a hobby or craft does not have to go by the wayside. Card holders and shufflers for card games are available, as well as frames for quilting or embroidery which do not require you to constantly hold it. For gardening there are also lots of devices to help you maintain both your activities and your yard.

An occupational therapist can advice you on and about several different arthritis self-help tools. I found people to be very resourceful and change or modify the things they needed themselves. Yours truly for instance bought a piece of the cheap foam pipe insulation, cut it to size and pushed it over cutlery for a better grip. This easy and cheap solution can be put in your pocket or purse, so you can even use it in a restaurant.

I have no doubt you have found some quick and simple solutions to a device that gave you problems in daily life. I sure would like to ask you to share; someone could really benefit from your experiences and lead a much happier life.

Hebrews 13:16
But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
