The Knots Prayer

Weird, how our own mind puts so many limitations on us, except for when we want something bad enough; then there is nothing holding us back to achieve our goal.

How many times in your life have you said 'I can not do that'? How did you know you couldn't when you hadn't even tried? Just by saying that we can't, we already put a mental limit up for ourselves which is almost an assurance for failure.

It is all a matter of attitude; instead of thinking negative, it is better to take a positive point of view and God gave us all we needed to overcome ourselves:

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

It is not easy, but we don't have to do it all by ourselves. Even for that God provided:

Matthew 7:7
"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

We may not always know what to ask for or how to ask for it. This Prayer which I received in an e-mail would be a good start:

The Knots Prayer

Dear God:
Please untie the knots
that are in my mind,
my heart and my life.
Remove the have nots,
the can nots and the do nots
that I have in my mind.

Erase the will nots,
may nots,
might nots that may find
a home in my heart.
Release me from the could nots,
would nots and
should nots that obstruct my life.

And most of all,
Dear God,
I ask that you remove from my mind,
my heart and my life all of the 'am nots'
that I have allowed to hold me back
especially the thought
that I am not good enough.
Amen.

Just imagine what would have happened if God had thought He could not love us!
