Benefits Of Lypocene

The other day I came across an article that recommended eating tomatoes or tomato-based products on a daily basis, because tomatoes contain a high amount of lypocene which is a powerful antioxidant lowering the risk of stroke. Tomatoes are also a good source for potassium which decreases high blood pressure.

Lypocene is the chemical responsible for the red color of tomatoes, strawberries, and other red fruits and vegetables. It gets rid of the free radicals which, when not removed from the body, can form fat deposits in blood vessels, causing blockage and hence a stroke.

According to recent studies, consuming cooked tomatoes is even better then eating them raw. It also showed that people with a higher lypocene level in their blood had 55% less chance suffering from a stroke than those with lower levels.

The research was rather inconclusive on whether this was entirely due to the consumption of tomatoes and all the lypocene they contain, or if the overall consumption of more fruit and vegetables in combination with a healthier lifestyle made a difference.

I am leaning towards the latter, because we all have our part to take care of and when we refuse, we should expect running into problems. We don't have to do it alone though; God is always there to take us by the hand and guide and lead us down the path that is best for everyone!

John 15:4
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
