Possible New Type 2 Diabetes Treatment

Not too long ago I came across an article which talked about new discoveries pertaining to Type 2 diabetes. Those new discoveries have the potential to substantially eliminate the need for frequent insulin injections. The number of injections could decrease from several times daily to once weekly and maybe even to once a month or per year.

For those of you who are suffering from this disease; don't get all over-excited. The findings may thus far have yielded excellent results in mice, but haven't been tested on people yet and many have their doubts it will work. It is reason enough though for the scientists to continue the study and research.

It is all based on and around a hormone called 'betatrophin' which prods an increase in cells responsible for making insulin. A similar hormone naturally occurs in the human body where the beta cells tasked with the production of insulin can be found in the pancreas. Increasing the amount of these cells might eventually equate in less insulin shots.

The study and research are still in an early stage, but the results so far look very promising. We will have to wait and see how it all works out, but the hopes are high and the doors for finding better treatments for Type 2 diabetes are wide open.

We can do more then just hope; we can pray and ask God and have the assurance that when it is in His permissive will, it will come to pass!

1 John 5:14-15
Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
