A Stronger Immune System Part 1

Since our grandsons have been going to pre-school, they have come down several times with colds and a stomach bug already. That was to be expected and another expectation should have been that they pass it on to us as well.

We had hoped to escape it, but a slight cold has bugged us twice now and a mild stomach virus crept up on us too. It is not too bad, but rather inconvenient and exhausting. Maybe boosting our immune system would help avoiding most of it in the future.

I read that protein boosts the immune system and hence helps protect your body against all kinds of infections, bacteria and viruses. It is found in lean cuts of beef and pork, beans, soy, seafood, and nuts and incorporating one of those products in each meal is recommended.

Fruits and vegetables, especially the ones high in vitamin A, C, and E, like sweet potatoes, carrots, dark leafy greens, citrus fruits, bell peppers, papayas, broccoli, nuts, and seeds regulate your immune system and ward of the flu as well as some upper respiratory infections.

The recommended intake of fruits and vegetables is 5 cups a day, but sometimes substituting with a multivitamin or mineral supplement can be helpful too, but get your physician's advice first, because it could turn out to do more harm then good.

Don't wander off and experiment on your own. Always ask your doctor's advice and heed his warnings and recommendations; you want to increase your health, not tear it down.

God has many warnings and recommendations for leading a prosperous, productive, happy life. Don't wander off and experiment on your own; it will only lead to disappointment and disaster!

Jeremiah 8:15
"We looked for peace, but no good came; And for a time of health, and there was trouble!
