Got Advice???

It is always anyone's guess when picking out a puppy, what its character and disposition will be. Having a smart dog is helpful and most of the times a big plus, but in some cases that intelligence can drive you up the wall.

We finally figured out that our dog finds ways to leave the yard every time a thunderstorm is audible in the distance and heading our way. There is something about either the lightening, the noise, or both that spooks her and prods her to crawl under the smallest space she can find; our van.

At first, she found holes in the fence and made good use of those, until they were fixed. Then she dug the holes herself until we plugged up those. After that, she figured out she could push open the gate and now, when that is prevented, she came up with the idea to climb our at least 3 foot fence.

She is more creative then we are, because we ran out of options and the only solution left is an electric dog fence. Those can be found galore, but are rather expensive though and before spending all that money, I sure would like to hear from anyone who has any experience with them.

So please, share. It is highly appreciated!

Proverbs 19:20
Listen to counsel and receive instruction, That you may be wise in your latter days.

Audrey,
Seems like you could use a shock collar to keep you from barking, hahaha.

Look up Thunder shirts on the internet. This 'shirt' helps dogs feel safe.
