Valentine's Day

Last Friday was Valentine's Day and there is no doubt in my mind that for many this special day did not go unnoticed. Flowers, chocolates, sweet, touching cards and other gifts, may have found their way to the heart, while others used dinners and proposals as an expression of love.

Life goes on however and where for some this day was filled with unexpected, pleasant surprises, others were faced with an unexpected loss and emptiness. We were among the latter. My stepfather in law passed away that afternoon and a day that started with love ended with the loss of a loved one.

He had been plagued with a nasty cold for a while and coughed up blood last week. He went to the hospital, was diagnosed with Pneumonia, admitted, and received treatment and antibiotics. He didn't respond well to all of it and was transferred to ICU.

His 91 year old heart couldn't take it any longer. He suffered a major heart attack and passed away. It all went so very quick and was totally unexpected. None of us were prepared for this. He will be greatly missed in this life, but we know we will see him again some day.

We may not always say it and we may not always show our love, but we should. Let's not limit showing our love to just one day a year. There may come a day where we can't express it at all anymore and that day always comes way too soon!

1 Corinthians 13:13
And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Hi Corry,
Was reading some old posts from 2007 and came across the thank you note I wrote to you and KC for the picture of E and Andy. Since I had your link, I thought I would stop by and say hello. Hope you and KC are doing well.
