Sandbag
Mia, our dog is now almost 7 months old and she is a "yard dog", constantly outside. Well, you would think she can't do much harm there. Wrong. She made herself the proud owner of our grill-cover and tore it apart. She apparently didn't like both our rubber doormats, for she shredded those. Several plastic pots stored under the building fell victim to her teeth and disappeared one by one in the garbage, chewed to pieces. My oh so carefully planted daylilies were dug up from out of the pot and made it, thanks to my quick intervention, to the front yard, out of her reach. A little toy, left behind by the neighbor's son...defragmented. Our plastic outdoor tables are constantly found scattered around the yard and the legs are already slightly mutilated. Our wooden benches bear teeth and scrape marks. Do you need me to go on??? Ok.....as you wish, even if you don't, hehe.
Yesterday she really got me aggravated. The yard-man came to mow the lawn and since we don't want her to get hurt and him to get annoyed, we put her up in the pen. We have another chiwawa (however it is spelled haha) in there, that can't run loose except under supervision, for she crawls under the fence and hits the road ...or the cars speeding by! She already found out she could crawl underneath the kennel door, so we put chicken-wire up, about a feet high. Mia refuses to go in by herself, so one of us has to carry her in. Yup...yesterday I had to do it, or at least try to. She is such a smart female dog! She drops on the spot and doesn't move. Now picture this: a two to three feet-tall dog, about 30-35 lbs, laying flat on the ground, acting like a bag of sand when you lift her up, letting all limbs hang as they hang and looking at me with eyes saying " I don't think so!!!" And she thought right. My strength is not that bad, but this "sandbag" was too much. I could lift her up, but not high enough to keep her paws from getting stuck in the chicken-wire. So I just had to let her go and hoped for the best. Nope, food won't work, and giving the example of stepping in and urging her to join, is useless. She would rather shut the door behind me, haha. I know the noise of the lawnmower scares her and I prayed she would take refuge under the building. And she did. So it went well after all. But at those times I get mad for being hindered by RA and having a "pretending-to-be-a-sandbag" dog haha. Although I know, God takes care of everything:-)
Nah, seriously, I love the critter to death. Sometimes I want to, literally, haha. But those are only brief moments:-) She is something else, a real character. I just wished every now and then she would acknowledge that God gave us dominion over her!
Genesis 1:26
Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

my basset hound is dismantling our back porch one plank of wood at a time.
cute dog- must be hot! Look at that tongue!
Oh, I can readily identify...!
We have two little Shih Tsu's at our house...and, a yard dog.
As for their religious persuasions, I would have to say our Shih Tsu's are Methodist...they prefer taking a bath in the kitchen sink...with my wife using the sink sprayer to "sprinkle" them...rather than bathing by "immersion" in the bathtub. The yard dog, I assume, is Holiness...we live across the street from a Holiness Church. On Sunday morning, when the members of the church start pulling into the parking lot, she nearly breaks her neck trying to get to where they are...!
Peace,
mh
On a more frivolous note, I had been congratulating myself for being a cat person, and then came downstairs this morning to find the paper bag holding our breakfast goodies all clawed and chewed through by the same cat who ruined the upholstery on my nice sofa. You've gotta love them anyway =]

Hello Corry,
I'm deeply sorry that it has taken me so long to reply to your very comforting and enlightening comment. Thank you so much for your prayers they are always welcome.
I gave what you wrote much thought and I believe you are right. Part of my depression is due to something I need to face up to and change. I've been letting fear rule my life and I need to stop giving Satan a foothold into my life this way. Thank you for sharing with me and taking the time to write such awesome words. I will also keep you in my prayers.

Jamie:
At least it goes one plank at the time and not more (knock on wood if you still got some left). Maybe it got some termite-genes in it????
Lou:
Yes, it was over 90 degrees and the words: "calm down" she erased from her dictionary:-)
mh:
That is funny!
Mia has not been "baptized" yet, but we suspect it is going to be the "Catholic" way. We don't think she would be up for full emergion! But...there is always God's part:-)
Marie-Rose:
No need to apologize:-).
I am grateful it was of help, but I couldn't have done it without Him! Thank you so much for your prayers, you are in mine:-)
Lenise:
I sympathise haha. But yeah, you got to love them! Even though we get aggrivated now and then:-)
To all of you:
Thank you for dropping in and leaving a comment. It is appreciated:-)
God's Grace.

You have reminded me of some unpleasant memories of puppy days. Of course I'm going through them all over again when my daughter brings her little horse over to my house.
nan:
I am sorry! I pray one day you can look back at the memories and laugh about them.
God's Grace.
LOL - your spelling of "chiwawa" reminded me... wasn't there an episode of WKRP where the cute little news guy pronounced it "chee-hua-hua"? Maybe I'm remembering that wrong, but it gave me a nice chuckle. :)
Stephanie:
Thanks for commenting:-)
I haven't got a clue how it is spelled but if I remember correctly it didn't look like anything the way it sounds haha.
God's Grace.
