A Reason For Everything

This story is told of an old man who lived on a farm in the mountains of Kentucky with his young grandson. Each morning, Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading from his old worn-out Bible. His grandson who wanted to be just like him tried to imitate him in any way he could.

One day the grandson asked, "Grandpa, I try to read the Bible just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Bible do?"

The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and said, "Take this coal basket down to the river and bring back a basket of water."
The boy did as he was told, even though all the water leaked out before he could get back to the house. The grandfather laughed and said, "You will have to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again.

This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was "impossible to carry water in a basket," and he went to get a bucket instead.

The old man said, "I don't want a bucket of water, I want a basket of water. You can do this. You're just not trying hard enough," and he went out the door to watch the boy try again At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got far at all.

The boy scooped the water and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty. Out of breath, he said, "See Grandpa, it's useless!"
"So you think it is useless?" The old man said, "Look at the basket." The boy looked at the basket and for the first time he realized that the basket looked different. Instead of a dirty old coal basket, it was clean.

"Son, that's what happens when you read the Bible. You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, it will change you from the inside out. That is the work of God in our lives. To change us from the inside out and transform us into the image of His son."

How often do we not understand why things occur as they do, but given time, God shows? It's all part of His perfect plan for us! :-)

1 Peter 4:6
For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to men in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit.

Hey, Corry -

Haven't heard from you or Kc in a while and wanted to check in to see how things are going for you both. I've missed you both!! Very much so!

I LOVE your basket story. It's a great one and so true. SO true. Very true in MY life, anyway.

How are your shots coming along? Are you doing okay with them and managing your rheumitism well enough? I sure hope so. You are a wonderful lady and you and Kc are a wonderful couple!! Truly!

God bless!

Cheers! Dee

Many blessings to you as well.

Cinder,
Thanks for checking in and for the love and the prayers. It is highly appreciated :-)

I loved this story as well and all that is stands for.
Will talk to you soon.
I hope and pray all is well with y'all. God bless you!

Pia,
You are back!!! :-D
We missed you girl. Hopefully you will have enough time to stay. On the other hand... if you don't than that can only mean your business is b(l)ooming!!! We pray God is blessing your undertaking and both of you as well.
Love you, girl.

Karen,
No need to apologize, I am already grateful you took the time to comment. If you need a hand packing, let me know. I prolly won't be able to come over and help, but I sure can supervise and deligate from this end, grin.

Love and hugs to you, dear sister!

Jel,
Thanks for your care and concern. Those hugs are always welcome :-)
Many blessings to you and yours and I return the hugs :-)

Claire,
I keep you and your mom in my prayers. I hope she is doing much better.
I still have "many more runs to the river" to make to be totally cleansed, but I won't quit. :-)

Vicky,
It's always such a pleasure to see you! Love and hugs to you too and God bless you!

Dee,
Thank you for all those sweet words! :-)
Sorry for not having been around that much. Life has been coming at me 90 mph these days. But... out of sight was certainly not out of mind!!! I hope you are doing well, Dee. I pray you did recover entirely and you won't go through that ever again. Gave us quite a fright there, girl.

I am doing great with the shots and the RA is not bothering me at all.

love, hugs and many blessings to you!

Audrey,
Lieve zus, I so much appreciate your love and concerns. Thank you for your prayers and for checking in so frequently :-)

love and hugs to you as well.

To Y'all:
I want to thank you all for your love, care, concerns and prayers. Pride is a killer and I thought I had sacrificed that, but I still choose it over love when it comes to it. May God strengthen me to overcome this and fill my heart with love and care. And may He bless y'all richly for all the prayers and encouragement you are to us.

Much love and hugs to y'all.

God's Grace.
