A Costly Escapade

Yesterday morning our son in law came by with both our grandsons. The first thing lil' Kc said when he walked up to me was "Car!" His eyes were full of expectations and an eagerness to tell me all about what happened, but he is aware of his limitations concerning his vocabulary. A good thing that I knew what he was trying to convey to me.

Me: "Did you drive a car?"
Kc, full of excitement: "Yeahhh!"
Me: "You got daddy's keys and drove the car?"
Kc, with a huge smile on his little face: YEAH!"
Me: "Uh oh, what happened? Did you hit something?"
Kc, this time with a pondering look in his eyes: "Yeah."
Me: "Goodness, are you okay?"
Kc: "Yeah."

I was glad he was, but the car was damaged much more then we expected. The door on the driver's side had a slight dent and a substantial amount of paint was scraped off. I sure hope his daddy's car insurance will cover the costs of repairs; otherwise it could turn out to be a costly escapade, even though it was short lived.

It sure was a wake up call teaching us to put our car keys up safe and sound when this little guy is around. Even though he enjoyed his ride, we don't want to give him an opportunity for another joyride!
