The Check-Up
I had to go to the hospital yesterday for a regular check-up with and visit to my Rheumatologist. The only thing out of the ordinary was that I also had to have a DEXA scan done, to determine my bone-density. Yes, my Rheumatologist keeps a close eye on me.
I am not sure yet what the outcome is and hope that I don't have to start taking those monthly pills again to prevent and increase my bone mass. They make me sick and extremely tired for several days, but it is better taking them if need be then end up with a fracture.
There was a different nurse present at my doctor's office whom I had never seen before and I think she may have been in training. She was wearing a purple uniform which is not common. It made me wonder if that was one of the uniforms from the http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/ site, but I didn't bother to ask.
The lady at the lab sure was a in a great mood; she told me she was going home and upon my question if she had a long day, she laughed and said she meant she was going home to Ohio, where her children and grandchildren lived. I was happy for her and the next time I am at the hospital I know I will not see her on duty anymore in her white, medical lab coat.
I am glad for her and anticipate she will be fine. I hope I can say the same when it comes down to the results of my scan!
