The Green Light

I am writing this post while sipping on a cup of coffee. It is the first cup of the day and it tastes delicious. It sure gets my brain in gear and my blood pumping. Another plus is that it takes care of any remnants of sleep-induced sluggishness.

It wasn't that long ago when drinking a cup of java was met by a doctor wagging his/her finger in your face.

Coffee had the reputation of promoting heart disease, increasing blood pressure levels and anxiety. We already were aware that anything with 'too' in front of it usually is not good.

Consuming too much of this dark brown liquid can have a negative effect on your blood pressure and drinking it late in the evening can keep you up at night, but a few cups of coffee daily could benefit your health greatly.

Recent studies have shown that coffee reduces heart, liver, and Parkinson's disease. It is recommended to use a paper filter when brewing a cup. According to what I read, this gets rid of what is called cafestol which supposedly increases bad cholesterol.

Coffee also has a positive effect on diabetes and athletic performance and lowers the risk for dementia. It is also said to make you smarter, burn fat, and make you live longer.

It can't hurt to add a few years to our lives, although they will fly by faster than we like. That's okay, because after having spent our time on this earth we can enjoy eternal life to the fullest!

John 17:3
And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
