Hurricane Damage
We are back safe and sound. Besides some strong winds and lots of rain Dennis' damage missed our area, for which we were grateful. Thank you all for your prayers! God blessed us with a safe trip and watched over our home. My prayers go out to those who did suffer damage and loss. May God strengthen them in their trials.
Material damage we had none. There were a few limbs in the yard and that was it. Considering what to do with the animals when/if the hurricane hit, we decided to put them in the bathrooms. Blake the cat in one, and Mia the dog in the other one. We tried to place Mia in a shelter, but they were all full, so we had to be inventive. No problem... both in a bathroom with enough food and water, a blanket and a toy. The only concern we had was that Mia might eat herself sick with that unlimited food supply. Well... the food was not the problem, the end-result of the food, after being digested was, haha. As soon as we opened the front door we knew! Oh Lord... the smell! First thing we did was letting Mia out of the bathroom. The stench that filled the house after opening the bathroomdoor was incredible and I am still surprised we survived it. Mia's droppings had replaced the flooring that was present. Let me recommend you never to get "carpet" like that. Believe me, you wouldn't like it! Our daughter made the remark that Mia was not a dog but an elephant, for only those could produce droppings like that, and she was right haha. I will spare you the details of the clean-up, but when I tell you that both the girls tied shawls round their noses while cleaning and threw away the cleaning equipment afterwards, then I think you get the picture:-) Bless their hearts, I was so grateful to them for cleaning it up. Thank you both so much:-)
Both animals are back in the yard, healthy and happy. The house has recovered from the inside damage and smell. And I am thankful for God's Grace and Mercy.
Psalm 100:4
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name .

At least you didn't have a rabbit. They're such nervous creatures that my roommate's died from the stress of Hurricane Fran back in '96. We're in central NC, but it hit us hard!
