Spineless

My back has been giving me problems lately. I wake up several times at night, trying to roll over but my back won't let me. Well, eventually it will, after adjusting my entire body to a point where it will just drop to the side I want, haha. But getting up is a hardship and the first half hour being up is as well. After that it is getting better. Sometimes I wish I was spineless (literally in this case, figuratively I already know I am in some areas, haha).

I visited my Rheumatologist last week, and told her about it. Of course, she was all over me:-). She came up with three conclusions of what it could be:
1. A consequence of a muscle-spasm I had a few months ago
2. RA in my back
3. Osteoporosis

In case no 1, she gave me muscle-relaxers to see if that would do the trick. So far, the only thing it has done is made me groggy and sleepy. The pain has not diminished yet, but I felt like having stepped right out of a zombie movie, haha.
In case no 2 and 3, she had x-rays taken of my back and depending on the results, she may have me take a bone-density test.
In case the muscle relaxers didn't work, she also gave me a prescription for another pain killer. So far it seems to be heading the pain killer-way, but I will wait and see for a few more days and practice patience (my weak point haha) with the relaxers.

Our body indicates a problem-area by pain. It is a warning that something is not right and needs attention and care. God too has His way of pointing out areas in our lives that need special attention and care, or improvement and strengthening. He shows us our weakness in several ways. It can be by something that is said and pointed out by someone else, it can be through an event and/or even by become aware ourselves. It is up to us to do and get what we need to "heal" that weakness. It is not always easy to take the cure, it often goes against what we want. But if we don't, the mess will only get bigger and we will find ourselves waking up in a nightmare we created. God is patient and faithful. He is always there when we need Him and gives us all we need. We have to be willing to do our part though and turn to Him:-)

James 1:12
Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

My friend too has a back problem. She has mild dextroscoliosis and she's currently suffering from bouts of radiculopathy, making it difficult for her to review for our upcoming boards. But she still has a positive outlook that she'll make it in time for the exams. I think attitude really helps a lot in dealing with our problems :-) Take care

Corry, Jay woke up in the wee hours of either Weds or Friday AM (I don't remember which) and didn't go back to sleep for an hour and a half. I can't even remember what (if anything) I did for him, I just was so frustrated and unhappy because I had to get up in a few hours and go to work. Anyway, it finally occurred to me that maybe God had me awake because I needed to pray for somebody. Your name came to mind, so I prayed for you (and Jay finally went back to sleep). Sorry it took me so long! ;) Sometimes I'm slow to catch a hint =]
