Look What The Cat Dragged In

In addition to the small "petting zoo" we already have ( 2 dogs and a cat ) came this little kitten. It sat next to Blake, our cat, in the yard last week. Our suspicion is, that Blake is the "Daddy", since he has been roaming around and the kitten looks just like him, haha. Possibility is that the kitten followed him home as soon as it was strong enough to do so. Blake abided it and Mia, still playful as a puppy, thought it was a new toy and chased it under the building, where it stayed the remainder of the day.

The next day we thought it had left and we got in the car to leave. We pulled out the drive way and stopped to get the mail before hitting the road. While I got the mail out of the mailbox, the loud miaowing could not be ignored. I couldn't see the kitten anywhere, but it sounded real close. Kc heard it too. We looked under the car...nothing. Then Kc popped the hood, and there it was...sitting on top of the battery. He picked it up, carried it back to the house and sat it down near the bushes, and we left.

Several months ago our oldest daughter's cat died. She was heartbroken. When we told her about the kitten, she went outside to look for it and found it under the grill of the neighbor's car. She fed it and played with it and the next day announced she had been thinking about naming it. Which meant...she wanted to keep it:-). We all were fine with that, as a matter of fact, I already had a name in mind myself, haha. The only concern was, that it might get itself killed by the preference it had developed for car-engines! Solution: for now, it is in a large cage till it gets bigger and we will go from there. After closer examination we found out it's female. Daughter picked a name for her. Her name is Ruth:-)

Sometimes God closes one door and opens another one. It may take some patience on our part, it may not always be what we expect, sometimes not even what we want, but He does provide and knows what we need. He wants us to be happy, to enjoy His Blessings. And He gives them in abundance. Like a little stray kitten, that filled our daughter's heart with love and joy:-)

Deuteronomy 28:2
And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God:

Hi, Corry -

Thanks for your comment on my blog post of the other day, "What is our Share, Anyway?", this morning. I really appreciate it.

I actually found yours yesterday and was reading some of it because I have a good friend over in San Antonio who I grew up with out in West Texas who has RA and a multitude of other serious physical problems and now her husband, who was also a classmate of mine, has a terrible form of bone marrow cancer and I am going to send her your blog "address." On top of everything else, she just lost her job of 15 years working for a big church there in San Antonio because she'd had to miss so much work recently taking care of her husband. So she really needs a lot of encouragement with her problems right now and I know her RA has been bothering her a lot.

I've been diabetic for 35 years (among other things, including 3 collapsed discs in my neck over time starting when I was about 35) and it has really taken its toll on me drastically the last 2 1/2 years, so I understand very well the problems of long term illnesses and diseases. So, I sympathize with you and empathize, too, in a lot of ways.

Your kitten story is cute. I grew up on a cotton farm out in West Texas and we always had lots of cats and some who would get tangled up with lots of equipment at times. I've had cats my entire life, I guess, since moving to the farm.

I don't know how far you looked back on my blog, but you might be interested in one I just did a few days ago, Oliver North, Gordon Shumway & Ross Perot. I'm not going to tell you about it. You'll just have to read it if you have a couple of spare minutes.

Cheers!

Dee

P. S. I'm going to send my friend your blogsite right now!

Thanks for your visit and comment:-)
I am sorry to hear about your friend and I hope my blog helps her some. If she would like it better, she can e-mail me. Let me know and we will make arrangements for that:-)

Thank you for your sympathy and you have mine! I pray you are not in too much pain. Is there something that can be done about the collapsed disks?

I have read several of your posts, but I intend to read more, so I will be back and read that one as well:-)

Thanks again Dee, my prayers are with you.

God's Grace.

Aw, Corry, I remember those days that the kids would come home with all kinds of strays. But, I drew the line at the opossom we found in the tool shed. He wasn't all that friendly, either!

I can imagine!!! We keep saying we have enough animals and won't get anymore but....:-)
One time I made very clear to one of our daughters that the tarantula she wanted would not make it long with me around, haha. I have this believe: the only good spider is a dead one!

I used to attract stray cats the first couple of years we lived here. I'd bring the kittens in and keep them in the spare room 'til we found them homes. Of course, the "spare" room is now the nursery, and I can't take any strays into the house anymore, especially with two indoor cats. Thankfully, I haven't had any more pregnant cats use our crawlspace as a nursery. I do miss having a kitten around sometimes, though!
