Reaching Out

It's so easy to believe we are all alone in our tribulations and sufferings, and it's even easier to loose all hope when there doesn't seem to be a solution or an end to it. I sometimes wonder why we struggle so hard against God and ourselves. By reasoning we know and understand that God can take a mess and turn it into gold if we just give it to Him, but the feelings contradict the reasoning. Pride, false trust or believe in ourselves, self-pity? The fight within is often between reasons and feelings or maybe it's better classified as the fight between want and need. We need to give it over to Him and have faith, but we don't want to. Why not? A control-issue? If so, then where is our faith? Haven't we learned by now that God only has our best in mind?

And all that time Jesus is holding out His hand, patiently waiting till we finally decide to take it and be comforted by His presence and touch, having faith all will work out for the best:-)

Matthew 11:28
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Hello Corrie,

Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving such a lovely comment - I hope you did not get troubled with jet lag after making such a long trip to the UK (ha ha)?

I was reminded of Romans 5 - the first few verses - especially the bit about God pouring out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit.

I was particualry struck when you wrote

"And all that time Jesus is holding out His hand, patiently waiting till we finally decide to take it and be comforted by His presence and touch, having faith all will work out for the best:-)"

I really need to remember this more!!!

How many times do we start to think, "What can I do to fix this problem?"... then, after trying our best, we look around and see the Lord standing there. Why is self-sufficiency such a monster?
(That's a rhetorical question, I guess.)

It's funny how sometimes in our tribulations we do lose sight of this...for me it's a bit of both control and pride, depending on the situation. When you do truly lay it all down though, this is the picture that's there...He's is waiting patiently with His hand out...just waiting for us to come to Him.

I guess it's just a continual process...working towards having the mindset...He's the one who can fix the problem and knows the best...just lay it down at His feet right away and save yourself a lot of trouble and pain.

It's such an amazing blessing to know He's always there...your picture is so beautiful...I'd love to have it to look at, as a constant reminder...it speaks mountains to His constant and patient love!

God bless you Corry :D

Barbara,
Thank you for visiting and welcome to my blog:-)

Haha, I guess I had as much jet-lag as you did coming all the way over from the UK.

Romans 5 I like very much, it is so encouraging and strengthening and always gives me more determination to persevere. Matthew 11:28, that inspired this drawing, spoke to me right away with peace and comfort. Just the knowledge He is there constantly is so reassuring. And just like you, I need to remind myself more often of that:-)

Bel,
((((((((hugs)))))))). So nice to see you here and yes, such a lovely surprise!!!:-)

Another ray of sunshine brightens my day, just like your mommy always does. Keep it coming, hehe.

Karen,
I know exactly what you mean and I think I asked a rhetorical question as well by wondering whether it was a control-issue. Your question makes me reconsider though. Self-sufficiency could indicate undependancy, which might be born out of pride? I guess control would be born out of the same pride as well. We don't trust the outcome unless we can make it happen. A mistrust towards someone, in this case God, would mean we do not accept that they have the best in mind for all and we know better how and what. Pride?
Maybe I am seeing this in a false light. What do you think?

Cinder,
I totally agree that it is a constand mindset, a constant work. But a work of love. And the more I do it, the easier it gets. But... we should not become too easy and lay everything at His feet for Him to fix. We have our part as well which we shouldn't overlook!

Girl, send me your address and the drawing is yours. I would love for you to have it:-)

God's Grace.

Yes what you wrote is soooo true. I guess I get into self-pity quite easily. Surely God can move any mountains, and He can turn any curse into blessings. Praise HIM Hallelujah!

Love ya sis.

Kitty,
It's so good to see you around again, girl. Missed you! I hope you are doing better.

Oh, I guess I would beat you when it comes to that self-pity thing. At those times I count my blessings and just like you, have faith that He can turn a mess into gold. I may not have what I want, but He sees to me having what I need!

Yes, Hallelujah!!:-)

Well... where is that pic of you??? hehe. If you would like to have a drawing (I intend to post more of them) just let me know!:-)

Audrey,
And a very Happy Mother's Day to you as well!!!

This is the fourth time this morning that God has reminded me He is in control... ya think He's trying to tell me something? Or do ya think He thinks I'm really hard-headed?

Hi again. Your message is really insightful and encouraging. BTW, you strike me as a person blessed with a big gift of mercy. Is that right? What does KC say about you having that? I am thinking about other messages more than this one perhaps, but it does seem that you do connect with others in a merciful way. Do you think so?

Andrea,
I am as vengeful and spiteful as any other person. I think I do connect easily with others and what they are going through or what motivates them because I am no different, but any mercy in me is due to God, not me. I do try to be more understanding and forgiving, more loving:-)

And I think you have to ask Kc what he thinks about that, hehe.

Cinder,
And a very Happy Mother's Day to you, girl!
May God bless you with lots of joy and happiness:-)

God's Grace.
