A Wake-Up Call
Sometimes, God gives us a wake-up call. It can be a reminder of what we take for granted is actually one of His wonderful blessings. It can also be to show us how we are or have become irresponsible with what He is giving us. In other words: everything happens for a reason.
In many cases these reminders occur on a personal level and/or in a personal situation. They can be minor and seemingly meaningless to any one else, but when taken to heart they can be life-altering in a positive way for the receiver.
They can also be major and intended for many, like the latest oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. God may be pointing out different things to different people. It may remind some of their greed, others of their irresponsibility, sloppiness, pride, lust, no appreciation or gratitude for God's creation, provisions, etc.
It may sound odd, but we are blessed by Him giving us these reminders. When we learn from them we can change in us what needs changing, live a better and happier life and give glory to the One who truly deserves it!
Romans 15:17
Therefore I have reason to glory in Christ Jesus in the things which pertain to God.
