Everlasting
Yesterday late afternoon, while sitting on the patio, something all the way in the back of the yard caught my attention. A small black creature was desperately flapping around on the ground. At first I though it was a small bat, but I wasn't sure. Curious, I walked down and found out it was a butterfly.
It couldn't get airborne anymore and it seemed to be nearing the end of its life. I picked it up and set it in the grass in the front yard, away from the birds' hunting grounds.
I had never seen this kind of butterfly before; its upper wings were almost black and the hind wings had a metallic bluish color. Search results online showed it was a Pipevine Swallowtail.
It was still there this morning, barely alive. This afternoon it died and I like to think it passed on to the luscious, heavenly gardens, where it is happily fluttering around.
How wonderful, knowing God is holding us in His hands and seeing us through all our trials and tribulations and that at the end of the road of this earthly life, everlasting life, home and happiness await us!
Isaiah 49:13
Sing, O heavens! Be joyful, O earth! And break out in singing, O mountains! For the LORD has comforted His people, And will have mercy on His afflicted.
