Senior Citizens are Moving Around More Freely

Guest blog by my friend Lyndsay Young

In past years if you were a senior citizen and had difficulty walking, your only option was a wheelchair. Many seniors don't want a wheelchair because it makes them feel older. Now we have more means for seniors to get around including motorized scooters. They are sharp looking and seniors don't mind running around the house or yard in one of them.

Another physical problem among seniors is hearing loss but there are places to get a Free Hearing Test. Also, hearing aids are getting smaller and less noticeable. Cataract surgery has improved to the point it is now a very common operation.

Senior care homes are showing up all across the land. These homes allow seniors to live fairly independently, yet help is close by. This type of living gives them more independence than a nursing home situation. They have a lot of activities for seniors to participate in.

Keeping the mind sharp is another thing seniors need to do. Using computers and computerized games can help in that regard. Watching game shows on TV and yelling out the answerers is another way to help stay sharp.

Whatever you can buy to aid you in enjoying your life, such as motorized scooters or Miracle Ear hearing aids or video games, are a good thing.
