A Cold Diet

It has been rather cold these days, but that doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing; I just got through reading it can help you loose weight. It so turns out that the body burns calories in order to maintain its temperature.

The cold prods your metabolism to kick in to high gear, which could mean that you burn up to 50% of the so called Brown Adipose Tissue (BAT) which is a type of body fat.

There is a diet based on cold exposure and it is supposed to help you with your weight loss. Recommended are the following options:

- Drink ice water first thing in the morning and continue to sip it throughout the day.
- Instead of wearing a sweater, carry it.
- Placing an icepack on the back of your neck, or on your upper chest for 30 minutes can boost your metabolism.
- When taking a shower, lower the temperature to around 68 degrees and stand under it for about 2 to 3 minutes.
- Taking walks in the cold while wearing your summer exercise outfit will help burning calories as well. Make sure though your hands, feet, ears and head are well bundled up and warm and do bring a coat in case you get too cold.

This 'diet' is not for the faint at heart and that is meant literally; exposure to extreme cold could cause complications in people with cardiovascular problems, or even induce cardiac arrhythmia in those at risk and lets not forget the fact that it could lead to Hypothermia.

I am not sure whether this would be such a good method to loose weight, but I wanted to share and keep you updated on what all is out there. I believe it is better to resort to a healthy diet and do exercises which you are able to do comfortably, without too much strain on your joints.

We all need to eat and drink, but since we have it in such abundance, we tend to eat more then we really need. Healthy meals, cutting back on portions, and/or cutting out snacks, will already yield good results.

If we want to cater to our craving for food, then let's fill up on God's word; that will more then satisfy our body, mind, and soul. We can eat all we want, when we want, for as long as we want, and it will yield only positive and wonderful results!

John 6:27
Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him."
