Asthma and Arthritis Medications

There may be a huge break-through concerning asthma and how best to treat this condition. According to recent research, the medication tocilizumab, also known under the name Actemra and RoActemra, which is currently used to treat Rheumatoid Arthritis, could turn out to be extremely helpful in treating asthma symptoms as well.

It still has to be tested though, but so far the discovery of two new genetic variants that increase people's susceptibility to asthma and affect the way the body releases chemical signals involved in immunity and inflammation could lead to new treatments, decreasing and/or even preventing the risk of developing asthma.

At the moment, there are no medications to prevent or cure asthma. Most of the available drugs just treat the symptoms and inflammations, but that is already a tremendous help. I hope scientists and researchers will continue the studies and testing. The quicker a cure is found, the better.

In the meantime we have to make due with what is at hand, but we will find comfort and relief in the knowledge that God will give what is needed, when it is needed. He always does! :-)

Job 33:4
The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
