I Lost It

Okay, the results of my DEXA, also called bone density test, are in and it is not looking very promising. Actually, you can say it is not looking good at all, because I lost a little over 10% since the last test was taken and both my rheumatologist and I are not very happy with that.

The rheumatologist is contemplating on giving me either Reclast or Zometa in order to fix the problem and I am not so sure whether that is a last resort, drastic action, or just because I don't tolerate those monthly bone increasing pills so well. I will find out at my next visit.

I have to dive deeper in the information concerning both medications and find out what they are all about. The only thing I learned so far is that both are administered at the doctor's office and that Reclast is given through an IV, which needs to be taken only once a year, while Zometa is given by injection. I haven't found out yet if the latter is taken once a year or more often.

It doesn't take much loosing your bone density, but getting it back may turn out to be a long, painful process. One thing is for sure: I lost it.

What I didn't loose is my faith and trust in God. I know everything happens for a reason and even though this doesn't seem to be good, He will give what is needed. In the end it will all work out for the best!

Isaiah 58:11
The LORD will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
