Running The Race

Last Sunday the ING New York City Marathon 2013 took place. Normally, we wouldn't pay much attention to this event, but this time our second oldest daughter Noor was among the thousands of runners.

She had taken up the idea of raising funds for the Cancer association after her husband Patrick died of this disease. Along with some of his family members and a few friends, she founded a group called 'Pat's Proud Runners' and trained for this special event for almost two years.

She started around 10:55 am Eastern Time and finished at 4:33:09 pm that same afternoon. It took her 5 hours and 36 minutes of constant running to reach the finish, but she did it.

Out of the enormous number of those who participate, many don't make it and I can't tell you how mighty proud we are of her and her achievement. Way to go, girl!

The goal was to raise € 25,000 for charity which equates to about $ 33,413. They haven't accumulated that much yet, but with € 14.481,02 at present, they sure are well on their way.

Well, Noor made it all the way. Running this Marathon gave her a very hard time, physically as well as emotionally. She kept on going though. She pushed herself to the limit and beyond for and in memory of Pat!

6.2 Timothy 4:7
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
