Devine Design

Thank y'all so much for your kind words, care and love. We missed y'all! A day away from good friends and family is a day too long! :-) We are about to catch up with each of you soon.

We had cleared out half of our living-room, considering building another room there. That idea went out of the window due to circumstances but no problem, we had wanted to put in a new floor and all the furnishings had to be moved out than anyway. The tiles were already waiting in the building, to be put down. So, we decided to do that asap. Well, we can decide all we want, but God had other things in mind. Finally we got around to it, more then a year later!

I hear ya... a year?! Yep, but all has a reason, huh? :-)
We never really knew what to do with that part of the living-room. Some things that were in there, found a new home in the little building because at the time, we didn't have a use for them but didn't want to part from them either. Other things got moved around and ended up in another room or were just given away. We love watching HGTV and get ideas. Especially the "Design on a Dime" shows and many ideas came and went. And then... there it was, the ultimate idea, the perfect lay-out! And all came together. The floor went in, unused furniture suddenly fit in as if it was made for it. Decorations we loved but actually never really knew where to put or hang, now complement the room. Everything just all worked together to make our house even more of a home. A few finishing touches still need to be done, but we are well pleased :-)

Yes, we are weary and aching (old age, hehe) from all the work, but we couldn't be happier with the result. It's kind of astonishing to see how well things worked together and turned out so wonderful. What we had no clue to do with a year ago, was made to fit the plan.

The same goes in life. All happens for a reason and is part of God's plan for us. Things happening, that seem to make no sense or we don't know what to do with, fall in place and work together for good. Have you noticed that? Another reminder to trust God and be patient for Him to work out His perfect plan. He sure knows what He is doing :-)

2 Samuel 22:31
As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

Hey Corry. Glad you're back. I tried to post a comment earlier... but Blogger has been very temperamental today.

I bet the room looks beautiful. Time to rest up from all that work! =)

Kristi,
Don't worry about blogger, it's been temperamental, correction... rather obstinate, lately. I am grateful you tried again and left a comment, it's always good to hear from you:-)

Ohh, the room is beautiful. What better than to rest up with good friends or family (hint, hint) hehe.

Audrey,
Hahaha, your enthousiasm is so sweet and encouraging, lieve zus! :-)

Kc did the biggest job, he layed all the tile down. I only handed them to him. But yes! A job well done!

Kitty,
YEAHHHH, Kitty is back as well! Missed your thoughts, girl.

So true. Now, if we
just could be patient to let Him do His perfect work. That is not always easy, is it? :-)

Love you all :-)

God's Grace.

Hey, Corry -

I'm glad your room turned out so well. I can certainly appreciate the feeling of having everything out of place and topsy turvy for an extended period of time. We're in much the same situation here, but with us it is EVERY room that has been turned upside down.

Our second bedroom upstairs in this rental is jammed full of boxes, with just a bit of room wide enough to pass in front of each bed (and we've got 3 beds in there - one double size and a trundle bed with pullout mattress below).

I just hope months from now when we get moved in our new house that things will fit in as well as you describe. If our builder can build it the way we want to, the living/dining/kitchen/breakfast areas will all be open and part of one big area with only perimeter walls. We have a lot of artwork, old diplomas, posters, etc, that we alredy weren't able to put out after I stopped working and in our new home we'll have much less wall space.

So . . . I'm not sure how I'll handle it. Rotate things around all the time, maybe.

As for God working things out - Katrina is our latest and a classic example of this. What was such a devastating occurence and heartache for so many, including us, has ended up for us, anyway, providing the opportunity we'd always lacked to be able to sell our house in Slidell and have enough money to secure another one.

Always before we could have sold our house, but at a much lower price than we ended up getting and we never could afford to buy anything else in the area because they were all too expensive. So we were stuck.

Since Katrina, since our house fared so well (which I attribute to God in His providential mercy), we were able to sell it at a much higher price than we ever could have before and combined with Tom's work now booming post-Katrina with all the new businesses advertising, we will have just enough to build a small house out in the country from here.

These things have come about as a direct result of Katrina. What can I say? Other than that God HAD to have had a hand in this for us.

Romans 8 tells us that all things "work together" for good, even the terribly tragic ones. In our case it is proving true, as it has over and over in the past.

Nan,
Yes, they do work out if we just give it enough time. I find impatience to be the thing that we allow to take matters in our own hands. Hence, it even takes longer for God to work out His plan.

Love you too, girl! :-)
You are in our prayers. May God bless you greatly.

Dee,
I totally sympathize with all the clutter, boxed up things and having to wait to be able to put all in it's place. But... you know it's only very temporary and you will be putting them back in your new house! I have every confidence you will find the perfect spot for a lot of things and rotating sounds good to me. That way you always have something different and new to look at:-)

Not all that seems bad is bad, as you have experienced. God has blessed you and we pray He will continue to do so:-)

God's Grace.
