Healthy Foods III
...and some more healthy foods and their benefits. Don't worry; this is the last one and then I will no longer bug you with what scientifically has been proven should be incorporated in our daily diet. Well, I will no longer bug you until I come across something again, which is worthy of sharing, that is. Grin.
Sardines
Fish oil can help increase your ability to concentrate. EPA and DHA fatty acids support communication among brain cells and help regulate neurotransmitters responsible for mental focus. Other providers for fish oil are salmon, trout, halibut, and tuna.
Bananas
The antioxidants in bananas, apples, and oranges may prevent you from getting Alzheimer's. The polyphenols (plant chemicals) are a great help in protecting brain cells from oxidative stress which is the main cause of the disease.
Steak
Vitamin B12 could help in the prevention against brain loss. It is scientifically proven that elderly with a high level of B12 were much less in danger of brain shrinkage than those with a much lower level.
Carrots
Carrots are excellent providers of antioxidants and consuming the latter over a long period of time can delay cognitive aging, especially in men. Other sources for antioxidants are red and orange foods like butternut squash, pumpkin, bell peppers, and fruits.
Ground Flaxseed
Flax contains lots of ALA (alpha-linolenic acid ) which is a healthy fat that improves the function of that specific area of the brain where information is processed which determine the overall well being. In other words; it is a good mood booster.
Speaking of a feeling of well being; it is not always easy staying positive and seeing all the blessings, when times are tough. It may even be difficult at those times to rejoice in all God's blessings due to the situation, but it is always a comfort knowing that this too shall pass and that it happens for a very good reason.
God has only our best in mind!
Psalm 145:15
The eyes of all look expectantly to You, And You give them their food in due season.
