Stroke Prevention Part 2
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and the risks of falling victim to a stroke are way too high to ignore and overlook. Here are some more tips you can do in order to avoid this from happening to you:
- Exercise daily for at least 30 minutes. This doesn't have to be all at once, you can do short, moderate to intensive physical activities for a few minutes at the time, as long as it all equates to at least half an hour by the end of the day. It keeps heart and body healthy and fit and necessary to prevent a stroke, but before doing so, ask your doctor if you are allowed to.
- Stop smoking. This is hard to do, but there are some great solutions to achieve the goal. Nowadays, there are all kinds of options which deliver nicotine, without all the other negative side-effects of smoking, which can aid in quitting altogether. There are also plenty of support groups around and even counseling can be helpful.
- Last, but not least; reduce and/or avoid stress and depression; both have a negative impact on your physical health and can lead to cardiovascular problems which in return can trigger a stroke. Try finding some fun, relaxing and interesting activities.
To reduce stress and depression you may want to cut back on caffeine, meditate or take up yoga, listen to soothing music, or go for a refreshing walk.
The best thing to do is pray and read the Bible; God's word increases faith and fills your heart, mind, body and soul with rest and peace!
Matthew 11:28
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
