Can Exercise Replace Medication?
We all know that exercising has a lot of health benefits, but it did come as a surprise to me when I watched a brief report concerning this on the news the other day. It came across that exercise could replace many medications which are prescribed and taken for cardiovascular disease, stroke, and diabetes.
According to some studies, exercise is just as effective as the medications used for treating these ailments and an excellent way of substantially reducing the risk of getting them. That sure doesn't mean you can simply start exercising and forego your medications. That is a huge no-no. Always consult your physician first and take his or her advice.
Another thing to take in account is that exercise requires time and effort. It has to be incorporated in your daily routine and, just like being on medications, you can't afford to miss or skip it. Being able to do your exercise-routine is not always an option or feasible, in which case medication is still the best route to go.
That doesn't mean you shouldn't put forth the effort to diet and/or exercise. It can only be in your advantage and in more than one way. You will have to make the commitment and determination to maintain it though, no matter what.
Things may not always go our way, but we have to keep our faith. With the commitment and determination to place our trust in God's hands we can rest assured everything will work out as it should!
Psalm 37:5
Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.
